Just the opposite happened to me. With both my pregnancies, my skin cleared up and my nails became stronger(my nails have always been crappy). I didn't get melasma until my second pregnancy, right in the middle of my chin and the sides of my nose. they weren't that big but it was enough to notice and that eventually went away. Does anyone no why some are the exception?

Very good information and advice. I am an aesthetician and follow these exact guidelines for my pregnant clients. Thank you for your concern for the client/patient's skin!

Dr. B - you recommend DDF Intensive Holistic Lightener in your column above as a good skin lightener during pregnancy. However - when I visited the DDF website to get more information it states that this product contains salicylic acid. What gives? Is there another lightening product that does not contain hydroquinone OR salicylic acid that you would recommend?
