It's what my dermatoligist told me. When I use Salicylic acid wash it helps. I use a dime size and wash for 30 sec twice and twice a day. then I use a toner. It was great article , it confirmed what I was told.

This wasn't very informative or helpful. About 99.9% of females have known the causes of acne since they were teens/young adults. You "solutions" are common sense "problem-too much oil solution-decrease oil" THAT'S GENIUS! You gave us one chemical but didn't tell us much about it (later entries don't help us now, why should we have to come back? Not terribly convienent or logical. Go to the dermitologist? Again common sense.

Jesus Christ. Are we that dumb? Who doesn’t know that in their 20s, 30s, and above? I still thank you for putting the time to post this, but just like everyone says, it's not informative. Majority of us should know these old facts! I beg you to talk about things that aren’t as popular unlike sal. acid, benz per., gly acid, and much more. Talk about tree tea oil, green tea, vitamins, and things that aren’t too overrated.

I do not agree about the sun exposure. Maybe it is just a coincidence, but whenever I spend a few hours in the sun, my face clears and I get a healthy glow. Many would probably tell me being out in the sun is not good for my skin, but I think the results speak for themselves.

I agree, not very informative. And I have noticed that when I use things with sal. acid in them, I tend to break out more. I agree with rain4334, when I'm in the sun or tanning bed, my acne clears up, also.

the most efective acne prevention ive found is actually very simple-drink more water. drinking 2-4 bottles a day will clear it up no problem.

For anyone who needs a recommendation on an amazing skincare line, you should try Arbonne's acne line. Men and women, even teens. They are all natural, and the product clears up your face within a month. It takes a little while to change your skin, but it is SO worth it! My sister had the WORST case of acne, and this was the only product that worked. www.arbonne.com. Don't bother trying anything at any drugstore. Most of those products contain mineral oil (a filler) that clogs pores. This line has none. Use it and you'll see a difference! Hope this helps!

I have been told that salicylic acid can cause acne to be irritated even further. Benzoperoxide was reccomended, and some great products that have that ingredient are clean and clear....Its in a purple container, and there is spot treatment too called Persa-gel. Also Mary Kay has a great product to for acne spot treatment that costs $7. You can find it on my website at www.marykay.com/wward7.
