Thanks to increasing consumer demand, organic and natural skin care products have improved by leaps and bounds over the past few years. Though chemical ingredients are very effective and sometimes necessary to treat certain conditions, I try to choose products made with organic and natural ingredients when I can because doing so encourages major manufacturers to reformulate their products to be less harmful to our environment. Plus, many of them work great! Here are 10 products that I have recently discovered:

Facial Cleanser

Janson Beckett Certified Organic Cleansing Milk is fantastic for dry skin and won't strip away essential lipids. It's made with soothing sunflower oil and also contains anti-inflammatory aloe vera.

Sunscreen

Look for organic sunscreens with zinc oxide; other natural active ingredients are not yet good enough for prolonged sun exposure. I like Weleda Children's Sunscreen SPF 18 because it has sesame oil and shea butter to help hydrate skin. Just remember to reapply frequently!

Antiaging Serum

SoPhyto Polyphenol Skin Drops is an antioxidant serum with green and white tea extracts and other polyphenols. Layer it under your sunscreen every day--antioxidants are one of your strongest allies in preventing wrinkles and other sun damage.

Body Scrub

Pangea Organics Facial Scrub has hydrating natural ingredients such as evening primrose oil and almond oil, both of which can help repair a damaged skin barrier to help your skin retain moisture. Cranberry seeds provide gentle exfoliation.

Body Cream

I'm a big fan of jojoba oil for dry skin. Suzanne aux bains body milk contains organic jojoba oil as well as organic olive leaf extract and apricot kernel oil.

Eye Cream

To help treat dark under eye circles, try Jurlique Biodynamic Beauty Eye Cream with arnica, which also helps prevent inflammation and puffiness.

Blemish Cream

Normally, I prefer salicylic acid for blemish treatment, but it's not organic. To treat mild acne, look for products with tea tree oil, a natural antiseptic. Primavera Tea Tree Floral Water is a good one to try.

Hand Sanitizer

Alcohol is a fabulous germ-killer, but it really dries out your hands. I love Grandma Minnie's Kid Gloves Monolaurin Hand Sanitizer, which contains a natural antibacterial agent derived from coconuts called monolaurin. It's very moisturizing and great for those with new babies.

Hand Cream

I'm partial to the smell of roses so I'm a sucker for Jurlique Rose Hand Cream. Not only does it smell divine, it's also rich and creamy but doesn't leave my hands feeling greasy.

Face Mask

For those with oily skin types, Dr Hauschka Cleansing Clay Mask clears blackheads and temporarily reduces oil.

For more great options, check out Saffron Rouge. It's a nice source for organic products. Please comment with your favorites here or come discuss at skintypesolutions.com
