As a woman who has dealt with estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer, and who lost a sister to it who was only 39 when she died, I am very concerned about parabens. I want to thank Dr. Baumann for expressing her concern and her opinion. It's my experience that many doctors ignore or downplay these kinds of threats. I'm sure the paraben level in any given product is harmless. However, when hundreds if not thousands of products are made with them, and those products are used and disposed of (into our water and soil) every single day by millions of people over the course of their lifetime, then it's an enormous concern! I for one read labels and no longer purchase products, except in rare circumstances, that contain parabens. Thank you again Dr. Baumann, I think you're great!

Beauty in the Kitchen, In 1971 I started using 2 parts baking soda + 1 part salt for a facial scrub. In 1980 I started using apple cider vinegar, oatmeal, EV Olive oil, raw egg and honey as part of every day/week skin and hair care routines. Egg white or honey make a great face mask. Salt and soda for brushing teeth, vinegar helps remove build up from hair, a dermatologist told me it helped put my skin back to a natural Ph balance, no complaints here, No you don't smell like vinegar. I will be 53 this Summer 2009, I recieve many compliments on how soft and smooth my skin feels. The best compliment is when I am asked what Foundation I use. I have not used foundation in 35 years and rarely wear any make up. My skin is eventone and my lips are still pink. I also eat natural, healthy and raw most of the time and stay active and exercise.
