I echo Dino's cautious response, because if you can't or won't shell out the time and money to see your dermatologist, just for this purpose, then the only alternative Dr. Baumann offters is to buy her book. Which makes this article an ad in disguise.

Ummm. . . Okay. So how do I know what kind of skin I have if I am probably wrong?

Most of Dr. Baumann's posts are just that--ads in disguise. I don't know why I continue to click on them. Unless I buy her book or go to a dermatologist trained in her "special" system, her articles are of no use to me.

Yeah...that wasn't very helpful at all. I have dry AND super oily skin! If I don't moisturize well around my mouth and chin, it peels, and my nose and "T Zone" are freaking oily as can be!

Excuse me but as an Skin Care Therapist and Spa Owner for over 20 years, when I perform a facial, the first thing I do it determine the type of skin I am going to treat. I have my client fill out a questionnaire, and after I remove the make-up, I look at the skin with a magnifying light and I ask even more questions. After the treatment I recommend products for their skin type as determined by me, the professional. We as Estheticians, have the advantage of just working with your skin for the last hour, and our reputations are based on the correct recommendations. If you don't go home and get the results we say you are going to get then we have probably lost you as a client. Our profession is based on correctly identifying the skin type and giving you the products that will get you optimum results. Money for a professional facial is well spent!

Well, that was fairly crap advice. I have Rosacea and there was zero advice on what to use for my skin type! Thanks for a half-hearted effort Doc!
