Why cant they screw up and find a cure for cancer and diabetes, forget the stupid eye lashes. Ya I know, because then the drug companies wouldnt be able to take all of our money, there is no profit in a cure.

are you kidding me? I can't believe the FDA actually approved this, even as a prescription. Do any of them actually realize the potentially serious side-effects of using glaucoma treatment medication (special eye drops) when you don't have glaucoma?! First, several types of glaucoma drops have risk of causing serious side-effects (like blood pressure problems, and potentially heart-attack) if the medicine reaches the blood stream, rather than just staying in the eye. The inner corner part of the eye is a major drainage area for tears, and that is where the medication can seep into the bloodstream instead of working directly with the eye. Even if the mascara is only used on the upper lashes, it can still have contact with the eye, especially from crying, and can, over time, show those risks and problems. Also, as the pressure behind the optic nerve (the main problem for people with glaucoma) is affected by only one drop a day, even someone using it only with mascara can, over time, see the side-effect of that pressure changing, which potentially can cause problems with the individual's vision. Why are we even having this as an option? Eye lashes are not seriously so important that we should be risking our vision. Also, who seriously thinks that if someone is going to be paying such an amount for mascara they are going to only use it on their upper lashes, even though that's what the directions say to do? Who uses two different mascaras on their upper and lower lashes? Seriously.

It might be stupid, but this medicine really does work to grow eyelashes. My dh uses lumigan in one eye for glaucoma, and the lashes in that eye are soooo much longer and thicker than the other eye. I keep telling him he should use it in both eyes just to make his eyelashes look the same. LOL.

I think that the cure for cancer would be more effective for our lives, rather then the cure for short eyelashes. Only the most vain of our country would be in on making this a priority for medical science.
