I did not know I wasn't suppose to be using retnoids while pregnant & breastfeeding. Should I tell my pediatrician to check for anything? Why are they not to be used during these times?

Take the antioxident astaxanthin (4 mg) , green tea extract (500 mg.) and virgin coconut oil. Religiously 3x day. I GUARANTEE the prettiest, clearest, glowing spot free skin NATURALLY and you'll be full of energy as well! Google all 3 and take them! You will NOT need sunscreen with these, and if you do tan you will NOT burn, and the tan will fade in 2 weeks anyway because these natural skin healers will heal the sun damaged (tanned) skin. I GUARANTEE it.

hohome2002; while that sounds great(!) I disagree that sunscreen is ever not needed. I'll give those a go (after research & speaking with my Doctor), though I'll be keeping up my sun protection regimen: it's not worth the risk: I've already lost friends and family to cancer. Y don't u use sunscreen?

You don't mention RENOVA is it one of the good one or is there something better and what and why?

I've incorporated retinoids (both prescription and over the counter types) into my skin care regime for about a year now and I have notice a difference to the texture and break-out manageability of my skin! I'd advice to test first and gradually ease it into your routine as it can be harsh to sensitive skin. I for example experienced serious reddening and peeling. Instead of giving up, I just lessened the amount and frequency I applied until my skin got used to it. I'm happy with the results and am positive that I would enjoy even greater results long into my 40's and beyond (I'm 31)

I live in Italy, and I am thinking about asking at my local pharmacy what they have with retinoids. I looked it up at Walmart.com and I saw retinol listed, is there a difference? I am 33 and have had a serious acne problem for the last 10 years and it doesn't seem to be letting up. Also, I have noticed a change in ho less firm my skin has become, and I get wrinkles when I smile now!

Retinoids are very harsh one your skin (as someone else said in their comment). I heard that once you start using them you can't stop or your skin will look worse than it did before. I wouldn't recommend using one unless you have spoken to a good dermotologist. (I have very sensitive skin)

I completely agree. The only upside for me of having a lifelong problem with acne is that my use of Retin-A has prevented wrinkles. That combined with my religious use of sunscreen has me looking younger than my friends, if occasionally spotty.

This comment is for Susie S. I have had really bad acne for the past 8 years. I only started getting acne in my early 30's. I tried everything under the sun and nothing worked, including oral medications (except Accutane). About a month ago I started using neem soap (does not have laurel sulfate) . The brand name is NeemAura and it's the ultra-sensative citrus formula (they have different formulas for all skin types). I used it for about a month and also used a toner (Proactiv toner only, not the rest of the regime). Then I used the tazorac at night only. My skin looks absolutely fantastic. Not only do I no longer have acne, but all my dark spots have really faded away. I would recommend it to anyone. You should really give it at least a month to see results.

I have a question... Why can't pregnant and breast-feeding women use this? Is it harmful? What could happen if they did (in other words, what are the side effects?)?
