My mom bruises a lot too so I wonder if it is genetic. Plus, I have a weakened, immune system. I hate that people recomment pills for everything now.

Umm, I bruise really easily, but I don't have any of those things mentioned. Really a worthless article.

I noticed a huge dark spot on my left arm.It truly was very ugly.the next day I noticed another one on my left arm. I went to the Dr.Her responce was to not worry about it.I kinda wondered if it was a illness problem.I was told by another Kaiser diet Dr. that I was low in iron and needed to take a 1000 mgs. of vitamin D.The iron clogged me up.Im 55yrs. old.Could it be something else?

The doctor mentions in the first part of her article that steroid use can be a cause of bruising. There are loats of reasons for bruising, but I think this one is important. People who take corticosteroids, like prednisone or hydrocortisone, for lung problems or as an anti-inflammatory can develop a long list of symptoms if they take too much. Bruising is one of them. And there is also a medical disease called Cushing's that occurs when the body, whether through malfunction of the pituitary gland or the adrenal glands, produces too much cortisol. Bruising easily is only one of the symptoms of Cushing's. Annette...Colace and fiber can be your best friend while taking iron.
