You know, I think if you are going to write an article, you should provide all the facts. The other option from self-tanners and beds and good 'ol sun is going into a MyMyst booth... MyMyst uses a chemical that works with the natural melanin in your skin to create a tan, instead of spraying on color. Also, sun exposure itself does not cause skin damage, Sun OVEREXPOSURE causes skin damage (i.e. Burning).

So why not apply the sunless tanner at night, wash off in the morning and apply sunscreen when going outside? Or use a powdered (pigment) bronzer after applying sunscreen.

Moderate exposure to (gasp!) tanning beds can be healthy for people. There are many products (and medications) that can make your skin more sensitive to UV light, and some self tanners are included. Use common sense when using a self tanner, going outside or using a tanning bed and many dangers that come from overexposure can be avoided.

It is unfortunate that facts are often not given when writing any article that contributes to people being scared to leave the house for fear of the sun. People need to realize that skin care companies that produce SPF's and self-tanners make alot of money from scaring people into thinking that all UV exposure is bad. If money was not the motivater, then companies would be teaching people how to avoid burning rather than teaching them to completely avoid the sun.

I happen to sell a botanically based self-tanner that ALSO has SPF 15 in it (so you use it while IN the sun) AND it has 9 key anti-aging ingredients! Arbonne is the ONLY company that sells anti-aging skin care products with 9 key anti-aging ingredients!! We also are the only company that incorporates nanosphere technology into our product. It is the same technology used in chemotherapy... it heals the damaged cells and leaves the good cells alone. Check out my website at www.maureen.myarbonne.com for more information about our products.

I like Yonka Self Tanning Lotion - It's a self-tanner & anti-aging lotion in one...it's infused with fruit acids, Vitamin E, & Rice oil - all great anti-oxidents that promote hydration & healthy skin. Easy application, too.

Saying "a session in the tanning bed" is so dangerous is a very misinformed opinion, and not based on empirical evidence. Under a conservative regimen, tanning can produce healthy vitamin D distribution and an increase in plasma and endorphin levels. Educate more before you disseminate.

I especially loved this article cause I use self tanner every day. But the only thing I wished you could have included were more products, such as Jergens (that's what I use). I mean, does that do anything good for your skin?
