Leap year is here again, which gives you an extra day to try the products on this month's list - it's full of products to keep you feeling cozy and looking healthy (even when it seems like winter will never end):
  1. Last month, I shared several of my favorite products for keeping skin well nourished in the face of cold weather and overactive radiators - but don't forget to pamper your lips, too. Lips need extra moisture year-round, since they don't produce any of the natural oils that skin does, and winter can take a particular toll. Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm is a great option this time of year. It's full of rich moisturizers that will soothe even the most cracked, chapped lips.
  2. Our hands often get short shrift, too, so start treating them to their own moisturizer. Neutrogena's Norwegian Formula Hand Cream is my old stand-by - it contains glycerin, one of the oldest and most effective moisturizers around. This particular variety, called Age Shield, also contains SPF 30 for added protection.
  3. If you're looking for a pampering splurge to get you through the winter doldrums, look no further than Dr. Brandt Contour Effect, a richly moisturizing facial cream. Not only is dry skin dull and uncomfortable, it's also less able to repair itself - which eventually speeds skin aging. Contour Effect does double anti-aging duty, hydrating while it delivers targeted ingredients to increase cell regeneration.
  4. What better time to try SensiClear's 60-Day Deluxe Acne System? This specially packaged kit contains two months' worth of cleanser, toner, and acne treatment lotion - get started now, and you could kick off spring with clearer, healthier skin. SensiClear products contain a form of retinol and comparatively low doses of salicylic acid to effectively target acne without the dryness and irritation other acne systems may cause - and they don't contain benzoyl peroxide, which can be a no-no for sensitive skin types.
  5. As you may know if you've read my blog before, I consider myself quite the green-tea connoisseur. I love the taste... and the hearty dose of anti-aging, anti-inflammatory antioxidants I get with every cup, of course! In the morning, I drink the Bigelow Green Tea varieties, and at night I've been enjoying the Good Earth Decaf White Tea Vanilla Blend. (White tea is made from the tips of young green tea leaves.) Why curl up with hot cocoa when you could brew an equally warming cup of tea - and pamper your skin while you're at it?

Wishing you great skin!

Straight out of the can, peanuts are one amazing health food. But you may get more antioxidants if you buy them in the shell and do this: boil 'em. Read More »
