this is interesting and parts are useful...but people should know that many of these products have "parabens" in them which are known carcinogens...many many people are now choosing to buy paraben-free products (avalon, for example, has a whole line, as do many other companies...it says "paraben-free" right on the front label so you can tell it's a big deal)...don't fill your body with more poison in the name of beauty! it's not necessary.

I have Dr. Baumann's book and refer to it religiously for products for oily, sensitive, pigmented and tight skin. it would really be helpful if in the future, Dr. Baumann can include skin types that benefit from any product recommendations she makes like this article.

I'm a huge fan of Dr. Baumanns and her Skin Type Solutions book. Ever since I bought her book and started followiing her recommendations for my skin type, I've seen dramtic improvements in my skin. I've always wondered what she uses on her skin to make it look so beautiful and know I know. While her product choices aren't good for my skin type, there are ones out there that are. We all need to find the right cleanser, serum/anti-oxidants, retinoid and sunscreen for our skin type and we too can have beautiful skin. I highly recommend The Skin Type Solution by Dr. Baumann. Buy the book, take the test and find the products that are right for you!!! Thanks for sharing Dr. Baumann and keep the tips and recommendations coming.

Have you ever tried the Arbonne Anti-Aging line Nutrimin C RE9? It is so fabulous and I have seen huge results using these products. Check out the products at www.mariathompson.myarbonne.com

I have always had trouble with my skin I had acne problems for a long time and I tried many things. I also had some experiances with acne treatments that have't worked out so well with my skin type. Surprisingly Proactive Solution dried my face out. Later I found out I was allergic to benzoil peroxide. I've also used toners and astrigents that dried my face too. My only solution is to turn to moisterisers and natural treatments. There is one company that is really good. It is called Onsen and the product is called the Dead Sea Product it is made from natural sea salts that are found in the Dead Sea. I got this product on sale for about $35, but I think the prices run between $50-$70 for a year supply of the facial scrub. Not so bad if you only have to use it once a week and it gets all the gunk and grime from off your face without making feel totally dry!!!! So if you are a naturalist or health nut like me :)!!! Try it it is great!!! Thanks for the tips:)

I think your skin care regimen sounds great, especially the CE Ferulic, but I am curious why the Dove cleanser makes the top of your list? Being an esthetician, it seems that commercial brands like Dove tend to be high in alcohol content.

I have a problem with your article because all of the products that you listed are damaging and contain toxic chemicals and preservatives. Since you are a dermatologist, you would know that the skin is the largest organ and that it is a literal sponge, absorbing whatever is applied. As a dermatologist, [A physician who specializes in the study of the skin, diseases of the skin and the relationship of cutaneous lesions to systemic diseases] you should be aware of the harmful risks that are posed by using solutions which contain chemicals and preservatives unregulated by the FDA. I would recommend paraben-free/ phthalate-free products, particularly ones that are organic based. We no longer live in the 90's. Just as our negligence has contaminated the environment in which we live, so has our inability to nurture our bodies with care and conscious decisions. Recommending harmful products only perpetuates the problem.
