its interesting to know that coffee constricts blood vessels but doesnt constriction work in 2 different ways? maybe the constriction prevents some bloodflow to the surface of the skin, but doesnt it also constrict (prevent) it from flowing away from the surface of the skin to some extent. most coffee drinkers will agree that they are more prone to blushing compared to times when they are not regularly drinking coffee. personally, i have noticed that when i go several days WITHOUT coffee, my facial skin is remarkably less red.

To my amzement, the information raised my awareness of what I have been doing in the last few weeks. To stay up late to finish my loads of school assighments, I have been drinking lots of coffee recently, around 3 to 4 cups a day. Before I drank only I felt like it. Then, I felt suprised to see that the acnes on my face are all gone now; however, there are still some small spots of acne scar marks. But the overall condition has improved substantially. I will try to follow this habit but I will not make it excessive. I will limit myself to no more than three cups of coffee a day because I believe moderation is a good road to take. Thanks a lot for the information!

I am a licensed esthetician and caffeine does the exact opposite of what you are saying, caffeine is a vasodilator.....topically. Many facial products are used specifically to flush the face and must be rinsed off within 30 seconds. What you are claiming for rosea use would be a detriment to couperose and sensitive or rosea skin types.

A common theme that I see in most yahoo "articles" is a flat out product pushing strategy. Experts talk a little bit about the topic at hand, while cleverly mixing in advertisements for products. I tend to be a bit leery with things like this.

Just like everything else, if you search hard enough, maybe skew the data a little, you'll find benefits and detriments. One bit of advice remains: all things in moderation.

yes i have heard over the years about how toppical caffeine was good for uva and b sun dammage and take my hat off to dr Bauman for her dedicated research and studys. I think nobody should ever ly under the sun we get enough of it without naturally. even though it makes us look fantastc for the moment. In the long run we wished we had not because of the pre mature aging and cancer , that can get tricky esp when it spreads under the skin...

Wasn't this disproven in recent studies? Hmm, might want to google that... Did a quick search and found this: http://www.beverageinstitute.org/healthcare_professionals/caffeine_qa.shtml

Caffeine is also a natural insecticide. Don't think I want to be drinking that.
