I had a dermatologist in my family who helped many of my friends with acne.. at that time Pysoderm was what she suggested for showering.. (not sure if they use that now!.. it's what physicians use to wash up at the hospital) but it didn't work for everyone!!! She then would prescribe antibiotics for a couple of weeks as is suggested here. Zinc cream is also good for drying acne on oily body skin. (and it's harmless... the kind lifeguards use to prevent sunburn). Glad to see there are more products for this problem than there used to be when I was a teen!!!

The problem with western medicine is they only focus on symptoms and not the underlying cause. Acne like all skin conditions..doesn't matter if you call it eczema, psoriasis, etc. is only a symptom of imbalance in the body. 99% of the time it is the KIDNEYS are sluggish in their ability to remove toxic waste in the body so the waste gets 'backed up' and the intelligence of the body will push the waste by a different route...either lungs/sinuses causing conditions here and/or through the pores of the skin. Putting dangerous drugs on acne is a band-aid approach. See a Natural Holistic doctor that knows how to find the underlying cause. Correct the body's major filters and say goodbye to acne forever. I fix this all the time. But how many times will your dermatoligist even address the internal organs? almost never.

I have ingrown hairs on my knees and thighs, even if I use exfoliating scrubs and loofahs. They're small in appearance usually, but more severe around my hips and inner thighs. Any advice would be helpful.

KUDOS X 100!!!!! I have been looking for SOMEONE to finally address this issue! I have stopped using any wash or shampoo with glycerin or paraben-based chems, but still have issues (even with a good diet!) I will try the pharmacy washes, I have been looking for something specific like that....tea tree oil isn't enough anymore!

nyholistic is right about the body filtering (or lack thereof) but the excessive chemicals they put in products to "moisterize" do not help anything but to clog up the largest filter, your skin. Good to do both!

I never had this problem until I was in my early thirties & all of a sudden my back was covered in acne. I feel it was due to either hormones or a fragrance sensitivity (they changed the ingredients in Tide at this time & increased the fragrance and I had been using a highly scented body wash) or a combination of both. The things that worked for me were a mild, unscented soap (Dove - sensitive skin) followed by a topical benzoyl perodixe lotion (only at night, with white clothing or something that you don't care if it gets bleachy stains on it). Also, as the Dr. mentioned try to wear 100% cotton shirts as often as possible (especially at night or when you are perspiring) and switch to a sensitive skin laundry detergent (something with less fragrance) and unscented dryer sheets. For me, this problem lasted about 3-4 months and with these changes it went away. I don't have to use the benzoyl perodixe lotion on my back anymore but still do everything else I mentioned and have not had a problem with back acne for about 10 years.

i think that many of these things can really improve better and healthy skin for you. it is so true that if you don't take a shower after you work out, or any type of hard sweating can be the reason you have bodily acne. i would suggest be as clear as you possibly can be. also eating healthy too

2 things that have helped me with body acne are 1) not taking steaming hot showers. I now take warm showers, but never hot 2) showering before (so i sweat clean) and after a workout. The before shower is really quick and i essentially just do a quick body wash with no real scrubbing. My back acne has reduced quite a bit since.

Body Acne In Body acne, blackheads don’t appear normally on the face, some of the acne spread across the body. If we see the part of the body where acne mostly occur then it may be on back, arms, chest and neck mainly. It is a type of problem where men and women both feel shy and they get annoyed mostly in their adulthood as this period is important to look better than other looks. http://www.treatmentsforacne.net/
