I believe with the new invention underway i.e. microbicide the rate of women's infectivity with HIV/AIDS will decline. Microbicide is a substance designed to empower the women since they can not negotiate or enforce the consistent use of condoms by their husbands. This they can apply to the vaginal orifice before sexual intercourse and thus prevent HIV and other STDs by killing viruses and bacteria before they get to their target cells where proliferation takes place. They said no side effect. We are still waiting for this great breakthrough but above all let's be prayerful for a cure!

AIDS is not asuch frightening disease as western media has hyped it. Hence the sexual angle is related to it so this becomes a oversensitive matter. Certainly prevention is better than cure but creating terror is not appropriate.

I want to say that AIDS is a deadly disease and the most people that have it is people of colour and there are ways to end this crazy maddness. We as adults, can first take the most frightful step which is taking the test and if help is needed, seek it. Its important.Don't run from your disease, deal with it now.

This was an amazing article. As a single African American woman...I worry about my safety in the dating world. I am celibate at this time and don't know when I will feel safe in any relationship.

STDromance...com is for those affected by STDs. According to the CDC, there are over 65 million Americans currently living with an STD, 19 million new STD infections each year, one in three sexually active men and women living with Herpes, and about 50% of all sexually active Americans affected by HPV. One-third of all single and dating Americans now exploring online personal ads (BusinessWeek, 2006) and niche dating has never been hotter.
