Dr Berman says "there is no link between promiscuity and sexually transmitted diseases" but them goes on to say, "Most women who contract HIV worldwide are in monogamous relationships, victimized by partners who have unprotected sex with prostitutes and then bring the disease back home" Is this male behaviour not promiscuous?" Where I live in Australia AIDS is still mainly a disease of male homosexuals. The incidence has risen lately though unfortunatley

One contributor says "CONDOMS, CONDOMS, CONDOMS - it doesn't take a booklet or instructional video to figure out how to roll one on... etc" I'm sorry but I would not be willing to have penetrative sex with an HIV positive person using a condom or even using several condoms. Condoms can only reduce the risk, not eliminate it.

from where im calling from socail & economic ineqaulities esp. in monogamous relations fuel AIDS transmission.when women have o be dependent on man for a living it becomes defficult to negotiate for safe sex. it is important to educate girls so that they do not engage in prostitution or become desperate for a living. And here i do not mean just basics like food and clothing but for luxurious gifts. Rich and poor are dying from this disease, changing partners for gain all in the name of love and searching for MR & MRS Right, extramarital affairsare high contributors, until we change attitudes we are doomed!.

Two organizations: UNAIDS and UNIFEM are trying to empower women and stop the spread of AIDS. Why are they only concerned about the women? Don't men have the disease too? What is being done to try and help them?

6: rustormi, if there were no such thing as an anti-cancer diet, why are there many books written on it? Why are there many studies showing that food prevents and even reverses cancers? Just because there are children with cancer in America doesn't mean that an anti-cancer diet can't reverse the disease or that the one doesn't exist. The treatments that they get for the cancer are more lethal than the cancer itself. People in America are still willing to go the toxic route and put toxins into their kids to get the cancer out. That's why there aren't better results for eradicating cancer. You can't compromise your kid's immune system further than it already is and expect good results to occur from it. It's a miracle if it happens, not health. But people who actually invest the time to get on an anti-cancer diet can repair the damage done to their immune system. Dr. Lorraine Day did it with herself in a matter of weeks. It's possible for others to do it too. I'm willing to bet it's the parents that don't want to be on an anticancer diet and therefore that's why the kid is never truly on one to get healthy. Can't expect a kid to eat healthy with junk food around the house that the parents want to eat.

I am always glad to see people discussing and thinking about these important issues. HIV/AIDS is killing people. Period. Promiscuity, economics, healthcare, ignorance, naivity, time...it all plays a factor. A healthy diet prevents and alleviates numerous health issues, including HIV/AIDS. But the medicines help too. Most cancer treatments and other disease treatments work best when both are used. About the statistics, most valid studies use a scientific method that takes account for chance, and other limiting factors and come up with a significant value. It the numbers meet this value, then they can rule out that factor or chance being the reason for the statistical data. So most of these numbers that come out saying women are dying more or contracting HIV at an increasing rate have looked at "by chance" and the "oh they are getting tested more" and things of that nature. Then about the reporting. Every dr. office is required to report not only that but the lab is required to report also.

Cancer is anger manifest in physical form. It can be prevented by thoughts alone. I think the cancer diet is a idea and better than trying to kill the cancer with chemicals that are not good for your body. Alot of times the treatment kills the patient just as much as the cancer.

The cancer diet is structured to boost the immune system.. which is why it works so well for AIDS patients also. (not as a cure, but to keep patients as healthy as possible)

I guess we should expect such a blindingly sexist tirade from women such as this author after 30 years of a feminist movement that seems completely devoid of wisdom or respect. Gee, my god, women are getting HIV "..almost.." in the numbers as men. Stop everything. What horrific inequality. After all, it was one thing when men far exceeded women with HIV. They deserve it, brought it on themselves. But women, well, we all know, women are victims. Notice, of all the causes of this trend, the Dr. sites "unprotected sex" as last, well behind a long list of other causes which, of course, are beyond the responsibly of women. Even unprotected sex is negated as "forced." Women want to be treated equally, which is fair and just, yet so many have been taught that when it's to their benefit, fall back on victim, little girl, hold the door for me, it's all a mans fault, I'm helpless. I know many of you will have a big problem with such a statement. Another big problem with the feminist movement is that there was never much effort put into open, free debate, only violently dogmatic howling which has left so many completely unable to defend their positions, or to allow others to challenge.

It have to be reported if that is diagnosis, but you are wrong that is against the privacy act to disclose any information about the patient without consent. It is amazing to me that these statistic says this about black women but as a black man i do not know of or heard about anyone black having AIDS or HIV

I second you on that, Jonathan. Isn't a committed guy (i.e., with a wife/girlfriend) who chooses to sleep with a prostitutes/several prostitutes NOT being promiscuous?! On another note, even while it's arguable that the condom helps protect against HIV/AIDS - it's alarming to realize that the VIRUS is HUNDREDS OF TIMES SMALLER than a SPERM! People should really reconsider the meaning of "safe sex" - and realize it's not so safe - considering that depending on brand, condoms have a FAILURE RATE ranging from SINGLE TO DOUBLE DIGITS...and that's just when talking about blocking the sperm! What about the HIV virus, hundreds of times smaller...? Just some points to ponder...
