i fully believe that visualizing your goals, whether mentally, or even putting pics on your fridge, or bathroom/bedroom mirror help you stay focused. my mother-in-law bought an outfit in the size she wanted to be, and let it hang outside her closet, so everyday, she would see that outfit and think, i AM going to fit into that. within months, she was able to, because it was visual motivation for her. not everything works for everyone, but you have to tell yourself again and again you deserve to have what you want in life. great post debbie!!

I think this is 100% true for things like improving our health, losing weight, eating better, exercising regularly etc. because those are things over which we ourselves have total control. But with jobs or relationships, or anything else that requires another person's involvement, you can "visualize" and have positive thinking and believe with all your heart, but there's no way that is going to make any difference. The only thing we can control is ourselves. We cannot control someone else's reaction to us - all the "belief" in the world doesnt' affect whether the guy who interviewed us is going to hire us, or the guy we met is going to say "yes" if we ask him out. To believe that we can positive-think ourselves into anything other than things we have total control over, is wishful-thinking fantasy.

Do not obsess. Make small changes but go on with your life as if you are not on a diet. The reason is that when you obsess about something, you are reminded of the sacrifices you have made and it makes the big picture a little intimidating. If you do not obsess it becomes second nature to you and before you know it you are making progress.
