When we heard the heartbeats (yes, two, I am having twins!) for the first time my husband recorded them on his cell phone and played it for our friends and family. And if cell phones are harmful to babies and mothers, then wouldn't computers, and anything else electric be, too? I haven't heard anything about phones or computers being dangerous while being pregnant, and it is almost impossible to escape these features of everyday life anymore.

#1--To answer your question concerning cell phones as harmful to baby/mother, the answer has to be NO....for the simple fact that almost every human in the US has a cell phone, and if they were in fact harmful, I believe that there would be alot more birth defects to infants.

The first time I heard my baby's heartbeat I was alone but I knew I would be so I brought a digital camera with me that recorded sound and recorded it and made a DVD and sent it out to everyone to annouce my pregnancy and the plus is that I also put a copy in her baby book.

Saying that hearing the heartbeat of your baby means you will not have a miscarriage is seriously misleading. I had three pregnancies in a row where each had a very strong "healthy" heartbeat and all ended in miscarriages. One at 8 weeks, one at 11 weeks and the last at 16 weeks. Nothing can be a "blanket statement" when it concerns individual pregnancies.

I liked the idea, just did not agree w/ the statement that if you can hear the heart beat it's a strong indicator that one won't miscarriage. That is not acurate.
