I agree with every word yu've stated, becaue i thought i was stuck in a romantic movie for the first 5 months of my relationship, but I realized, No one is perfect and people do make mistakes, you just have to forgive and move on.

"And - truth to tell - men may maintain an interest in the NFL, and want to watch a game or two with buds. Or women may decide that, heck, those end-of-season sales just can't go on without them." are you KIDDING? it's 2007 guys!

love isnot just a desire to be with the one you love, but the desire to love and charish them til the day you die...Love is what keeps us strong, without love there is hate, and the world would be an aweful place without love....So Live to Love with all your heart no matter what.

In my opinion, the author clearly does NOT know what True Love is like or what it is about.

this article would be useful to a 13 year old girl or immature adults. everybody i think to some extent puts their first partner/lover up on a pedestal but usually its that first relationship where one learns the lesson that you cant make a person be what you want them to be.

I totally agree with everything he said. I actually found it draining to be stuck in the total romantic part, with going out all night and getting little to no sleep. We're actually more happy now being married and having the routines and such.

My GF doesn't have enough diversions outside of us. I like my space: she doesn't get that. It gets old.

what about substance vs circumstance? i want kids- he doesnt. but we love each other and we make each other happy. should we give up now? or wait to see if things change? its a good start to an article but i think it could be taken a step further- not just reality vs fantasy but as i mentioned, substance vs circumstance.

Great article David! The movies and books really do fill our heads with fantasy and the quest for perfect looks and actions, but anyone who has had a relationship for 5 plus years knows the entire relationship cannot be based on your first 3-6 months of dating. Keeping the spark is important, but it's only 4th of July once a year!! ;-)

Morre enthusiasm for raw unbridled sex and less theater would be a signal to me that a woman might be a "keeper." Too many of them like to flirt, but come up short when the chips are down.
