OK, just gotta say, I don't agree on the smart , confidence, grimy and capable bits. In my experience (and a couple freinds'), most men do NOT want their women to be that way, at least not overtly. it's too "masculine" - that is, smart and confident is intimidating, and grimy and capable is too independant. As I have heard and been told, what do I need a man for if I can do it myself? Guys don't want to be needed for emotional support and all that jazz, that's a female thing. Guys want to be needed to change the tire, move furniture, chop wood, fix the oven... if a woman can do that herself, he feels useless. I think guys still generally prefer their women more on the "done-up", slightly helpless and clueless side.
