In defense if invasive surgery: A mouthful of bad teeth; Scars from teenage acne; Extrordinary facial birth defects. Correcting these problems can allow a persons real personality come through rather than hiding behind some physical fault.

I have always preferred to see bodies as vehilcles to carry someone's head from place to place. It's once going on upstairs that excites me. But than again, I'm from the midwest.

Men should be concerned about their looks, even as much as women are about themselves. A man's appearence is judged harshly by women. Tons of women are enhancing their looks and don't think for a minute they wouldn't like a man to match them equally. Having sex with a man with a big gutt feels like a basketball crushing on your stomach. Ouch!!! I can't breathe...hurry and get off! Men should definately color their prematuring grey hair just like women do and if you're half bald, get a toupe. You should hear the comments women have to say about that. Who wants a man that looks like he's falling apart? Do men want a woman that look like that? A man has the right to improve himself as much as any woman and women appreciate and admire it. I seriously wouldn't mind my husband being a little more vain. This article does not apply to him in the least - he does not care what he looks like. In fact, the only reason he wants his belly gone is the fact that I've pointed it out repeatedly (in the hopes he will be bothered by it and get healthy).

I think the scariest thing is the idea that a man and a woman can go and change thier appearance so easily, what then when they have children and see the true fruit of thier loins, then what, instead of saving for college should they save for the remodel the child may need to face. is it not procreation to better man kind, and to continue the process of natural selection. boy I pitty those ugly kids, but more the parents. I look for someone who has never seeked out plastic surgery. I just want to make sure my child looks like me and my partner not someone who mayhave been switched at birth.

I don't know where you find the guys you refer to in this piece, but I don't know any of them. I maintain as much of an appearance as I need to for the sake of getting a paycheck. Beyond that is just more social engineering. It helps to turn off the tv, and not allow oneself to be advertised to, whether male or female.

Bravo to you ladies out there who expressed that men need to be more conscience of their appearance. It took me the longest time to get my husband to really think about his and my 16 y.o. son just doesn't get it! I'm constantly nagging him to comb his hair. Isn't that simple enough? And if I let him he'd be wearing holely jeans even to church! Why should women be the only ones needing to be appearance conscience? It seems to come more naturally to women, but men really have to "work" at it. Yes, personality matters AFTER you get past the appearance!

I think its great that men are taking better care of themselves these days. I am so sick of the so c alled casual look. I think its just sloppy and lazy. When I see a man who is unkempt I feel he's just to lazy to clean up. Lazy in appearance means lazy in everything!!!
