good tips Joy, and I'd like to add something from the lonestartnow program I've been doing relating to strength training. You don't even have to go to the gym if you have a counter or breakfast bar. stand with your feet a little apart about 2 feet from the counter (not on a slippery rug) and do push-ups against the counter. You can work different parts of your arms by how far apart you place your hands. The good thing is you can do this any time, such as while you're waiting for water to boil. I find time to do this several times a day and am up to about 100 of these push ups a day. Keep your back straight. You'll feel it in your legs, calves, arms and buttocks.

Thank you for this site, it is very informative. My major problem is I am continually gaining weight because I do not have much of an appetite. People say to me "oh you are lucky to not have cravings all the time and the urge to eat all the time " well on the contrary, I wish I did have an appetite most of the time, and heck I would even take some cravings. Do you have any suggestions on how I can boost my appetite, and therefore get my metabolism out of neutral. ?

I am a 26 year old female who was recently told by my doctor that i needed to loose weight and that by doing so this might increase my ability to get pregnant. i was upset to hear this. my weight was at 168 lbs and i am 5.2 so i took on this challenge. i seen doc on june 22, and was told today that i had lost 6 lbs. i was so happy to hear that i was on the right track. the first week was hard with my husband and son eating whatever they wanted. i soon learned the value of self control. i did some homework on low carb high fiber diets as suggested by doc and have lost the weight by being consistant with this info. foods to try are special k for breakfast and at any time to snack satisfies the sweet tooth use 2% or 1% milk, i was told by a RN at work that 1% milk has a high amount of starch to thicken it so either way its your prefrence if you are anything like me i love bread i have now found a bread that is different but it is a nice bread its called malt bread but dont let the name fool you its delish.try to eat your three meals a day with a chicken wrap for lunch you can change them up so many ways you never get tired of a wrap and the hungrier you are just load the lettuce and veggies. try yogart with 1% modified fat content skim milk cheeses and only lean meats like chicken steak and fish try to avoid bacon sausage and pork rule is only 3 grams of meat being consistant with a new routine will help and when you see the results it also helps you stay on track and always rember that you can have a sweet here and there but you are not eating like this every day look at it as a reward and try to boost your activity during the eve when your beat from running all day push yourself this is where it matters what you would do on a day to day basis doesnt count. so heres to you mom of two do some homework talk to your doc and maybe we will both have our wish one day. shaw.

/great Help! I find that doing a little tango and salsa twisties to some of my favorite house cleaning music I build up muscle tone especially around the bulge battle zone as well as have fun just singing and dancing works up a great appetite and you drop inches due to muscle toning quickly and then you enjoy your excercise program enough to do it almost all day. No one is around to tell you that you are embarrasing them because they don't want to be part of house cleaning so dance your heart out and have fun and loose weight as quickly as the days go by.

In your situation...the quick fix obviously is some type of Atkins Diet accompanied with just walking 3 days a week...once you have lost a substantial amount of weight, then balance it out by 6 small meals a day...

I found eating foods that really taste good allows me to stop eating after a smaller portion, then if I eat bland food, I keep going hoping the next bite my be better. Well anyway, that's my excuse I tell my wife for being on the sushi diet. Cheers, MarkMason.com
