I dont know ur physiology countrygirl_cansurvive2005 but i think to gain weight u should not target lowering of metabolism There must be some other way out. Proper metabolism is a must for avoiding many hormones and heart related diseases and other diseases.

physiology countrygirl should talk to a nutritionist there are suppliments you could add to your regular diet to enhance weight gain, metabolism is good to maintain a good cardiovascular and digestive system throughout your lifespan, compare to people like myself with a slow metabolism you have less chance of building up sluge within your intestines and your arteries.

At 56 with a very slow metabolism and treated hypothyroid - (will NOT cure weight gain) and 30 yr of exercise nightly, the only way around gain is to cut back a LOT - especially sugar and white carbs. No big meals after 5, period. If I splurge it takes a few days to normalize. This problem DOES exist. Nutritionists deny it.

I a 65 yr.old female and suffer from periods of protracted weakness. I generally fell weak upon awakening. Have had various medical testing as well as exams by medical specialists for this problem but to no avail. Tried eating smaller amounts of food at more frequent intervals as well as exercise but the problem continues. Any thoughts??

I have had a problem all my life with not eating, because I don't get an appetite, and I cannot eat, if I'm not hungry. I was always thin & now at 49# can tell my mteabolism has slowed down a lot, I used to have lot of energy, even tho I didn't eat a lot. But now, I'm still not losing any weight, all the weight goes to my belly, and The only time I get hungry & can really eat, is late at night. For mornings I usually have a Adkins protein shake, and rest of day is usually just water, or maybe another shake. Sometimes I can eat a little fruit. I haven't exercised in years, & was already told by a personal trainer, if I wanted to lose weight, I'd have to eat more, like 4 to 5 small meals a day. I would love to be able to do that,, but I can't eat without appetite, it makes me gag! What can I do to get an appetite when I've had this problem my whole life? Are there any enzymes, or will exercise help?
