This is way too simplistic. Pecans may be good, but the load of corn syrup and the crust of pecan pie are anything but healthy, and alot more in the pie than the pecans themselves. - Sweet potatoes are loaded with starch and sugar alone, add the 'candied' part and you're in for more sugar than the potatoes have themselves. - The other stuff isn't so bad.

Woo hoo! Thanks, Joy! Thanksgiving is only one day out of the year - let's celebrate how blessed we are to have to worry about eating too much, instead of worrying about not having enough. This Thanksgiving, let's eat what we love and love what we eat. And then wake up early on Friday and hit the gym :)

I agree with whomever said that one day will not break you!! Just work it off the next day instead of lounging around watching tv or shopping!!! Get outside, walk, run or do something!

Wow I had no idea pie was so healthy! I'm going to eat pie year round! Seriously though, eat whatever you want on Thanksgiving on Christmas, worry about your diet the other 363 days. PS. To ladyspear2006, Ludacris is a rapper, ludicrous means ridiculous

A homemade apple cobbler made with oats if healthier than a homemade apple pie made with flour...you can use more cinnamon then sugar in the topping and unsalted butter! It's a great way to have all the flavor with a lot less fat

Thanks for the info... My family loves a "pumpkin" pie made with yams (the bright orange kind). We just replace the pumpkin with yams and exclude the sugar. The pie is sweet and, in my family's opinion, tastes better than pumpkin. Sometimes we cover the top of the pie with pecans before baking. And by the way we also make the crust with Spectrum Naturals Vegetable Shortening, which is non-hydrogenated and has no trans fat. While this desert is much lower in sugars it still has fat in the crust. Any suggestions for a yummy alternative crust would be appreciated.
