Scary, that's for sure. I'm on an exercise and diet thang at the moment, and I thought I was making great progress. Only problem, I have chronic insomnia. THis has been an ongoing problem since I was a kiddo, and I knew it's not that healthy, but diabetes? Since my mother was diagnosed with diabetes, I've cut the sugar and salt, but I must admit, I've neglected the sleep problems. No sleep apnea, they checked for that, but it's blamed on my psych meds. I'll make an effort to get better, healthier, sleep.

Hi, I found very interesting this kind of articles, although because of my hectic way of life its for my a little difficult to sleep more than 6 hours... I´ve being following a sleeping plan that I read on the internet which actually is working good, involving a diet, a lot of excercise and the so-called "power naps" in the afternoon for around 15-30 minutes. I don´t know if what I´m doing could cause some healthy problems but I´m feeling fine and even with more energy than sleeping the recommended 8 hours. What do you think about it? is it alright what I am doing?

When people talk about diabetes, why is it always type 2. I have been type 1 for over 45 years, and it has nothing to do with over eating or lack of exercise, it is a autoimmune disease. There are many people with type 1. People get the wrong idea that type one has the same causal effect as type 2, which is not true. Maybe it is because so much is still not known. But lets at least distinguish the difference between them both so people don't think that everyone with diabetes has problems with eating too much. Mine was predetermined before I was even born. One of several million with Type 1 Diabetes.
