    I think Joy's advice on choosing bread is good, but what I also look for when choosing a loaf of bread is how much fiber. Aunt Millie's 12 Grain Bread has 6g of fiber and is very good!

    I agree most people should add more whole grains to their diet. However, you should mention to look for high fructose corn syrup on the list of ingredients and if in the top 5, that product should be avoided. I also recommend buying organic cereal and bread, they are not likely to have fructose in them

    very helpful, but what about the "lite" breads at 40 calories/slice, or Fiber One? Is there such a thing as too much fiber? I eat these because I like the taste, as well as the calories they save! I belong to Weight Watchers; every "point" helps!

    nature's own 100% whole wheat is 50 calories ; 2 g fiber; 4 g protein a slice.

    Better forms of wheat are Amaranth, Kamut, Spelt, Buckwheat... Look for brands of bread and cereals that contain these... Re-train your tongue to eat these foods, they're much healthier then regular whole grain wheat foods. And eat organic whenever possible. www.taimak.tv

    I notice you didn't mention trying to avoid high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) which is terrible for people, especially kids, because of the way our bodies process it. It's in nearly all bread and cereals.
