I agree with all of the following methods for curving hunger and watching what you eat. However, for portioned snacks, I'd go with things healthier and fresher than what was described. 100-calorie packs, while being satisfyingly low in cals, has about 20-30 grams of sugar per packet, depending on the variation. Instead, I'd go with a small can of tuna with a baggie of carrot sticks, or a protein shake with whey and water alongside a quarter of a cucumber. Just my thoughts. If you're eating low-cal you still want to make sure the calories you consume are coming from sensible sources (i.e. complex/healthy simple carbs, beneficial fats, protein, etc.).

We all need to realize that there is nothing out there that is perfect. A certain food can benefit you in one area and harm you in the other. For instance, the 100 calorie pack snacks are gret becasue there already counted and packaged but on the other hand there are many perservatitives and bad things in there as well. We just have to know how to eat everything little by little. Never too much of anything. A well-balanced meal is great, always!

I heard that the jury is out when it comes to egg yolks, because the cholesterol that our bodies produce is the problem and egg yolk cholesterol does not contribute to that. But still, moderation is usually key. I eat 1 w/ yolk, one white. What about people with celiac sprue? How do we best get healthy, insoluble fiber? I can only eat so much brown rice!!!!

My mother is also diabetic. She is on the verge of being put on dialysis, she's almost 80 yrs old. Very important that you watch what you eat, and exercise! There are alot of books for diabetics, and websites to go to. You can sugar free candy, ice cream they taste good too! Good luck!
