The daily protein requirement is way off... The average adult needs 50 to 55 grams of protein a day, not half of a person's body weight. Look it up.

Over the past 10 years I have conditioned my body to accept two scant meals a day, due to job (no lunch). I eat quite well at those two meals, I do have a couple of alcoholic drinks a night but I have put on weight over those ten years and cannot see why? I am 59 years of age.....

Lose the "couple of alcohlic drinks a night". You could be consuming 1000 extra calories a day in as little as 3 drinks depending on what you are drinking! With two "scant" meals a day, you are probably not getting enough to burn any significant fat. You need to fuel the furnace every few hours a day instead of all at once to keep blood sugar levels even.

Great tips. As for the protein requirements comment...she DID look it up. The 50-55 gram/day is for the average person and does not account for body size! The tailored recommendation based on body size is so much more helpful than a general recommendation based on calorie intake.

By the age of 45 years we have heard of these health tips so many times. Important point is that one should be disciplined and stick to the exercise schedule and also try to maintain fatfree diet with fruits and salad.

I do believe you have left out an extremely important source of protein, nuts & seeds! A perfect example is walnuts. More protein ounce for ounce than steak & rich in healthy oils too! Tofu? Beware if you've had pancreatitis!
