ghetto_momma, people all have their reasons for wanting to loose. for some, it's a health reason, for others it's just for vanity purposes. what i found helpful was talking to my doctor about what to do. i can give you a few tips: eating 3 decent meals and 3 healthy snacks a day is really good. don't deprive your body of nutrition, but manage your portions well. eat healthy foods, lots of veggies and fruits. cut out fast food completely!! it's soo bad for you. limit fatty meats (i.e pork products). try switching from canned veggies to frozen or fresh, canned veggies have alot of sodium (salt) that cause you to retain water. so on that note, watch your salt intake also (mrs. dasch is a good substitute!). try limiting yourself to one sweet treat a week. make it a reward for doing soo well :) cut out soda completely!! i lost 5 lbs alone doing that, even diet soda is bad for you. drink water, tea, juice, etc... exercise is key also, no matter how minnimul. try by walking to the store instead of driving, but walk at a fast pace, things like that. the real key to loosing is self control. a good thing to learn is to eat to live, not live to eat.

To be honest if we follow the old saying "everything in moderation" our bodies will adjust itself and weight and attitude will change.Just remember to eat your fiber and all moves through. The Colon is most important and as long as we keep it healthy all else will follow.

Those are OK suggestions but I strongly disagree with the last one -- people gain weight back. It's a fact of life. Why make yourself have to buy a whole new wardrobe if it happens? You'll feel bad enough. And it would be nice if getting rid of the clothes makes it less likely to gain the weight back, but it happened to me and I had gotten rid of the old "fat" clothes.. not a fun situation to be in.

The point on spicy foods is actually completely wrong. Spicy foods, or very tasty foods, encourage overeating. The only way the reverse is true is if the food is so spicy it becomes unpalatable. In which case, all you're doing is ruining your meal.

I say don't donate your clothes...go get them taylored for your new body. That way, you still enjoy your clothes and don't have to buy all new ones.
