This article was to long. By the time you finish reading it, you won't remember what ws suggested. I think two small paragraphs of suggested foods would have gotten the point across.

This is so informative. Thank you! I have also found that wheat bread, with butter spread and one spoonful of sugar helps regulate the flow and gets rid of cramping. It worked for me, maybe it will work for you. It doesn't taste all that well, but it helps.

I agree with only one of the suggestions and that is Calcium. I suffer from awful PMS that makes it hard for me to be around anyone else. I tried the synthetic drugs (Zoloft, Wellbutrin, etc.) but neither worked. Only after their failure did my doctor finally suggest the "cure." I am to take 1200mg Calcium every day with a single tablet of Vitex (found at GNC) each day. I take 1 calcium at each meal and my Vitex w/ breakfast. It had helped me tremendously!! Of course, the suggestions are great, but they're more for living a healthier lifestyle than for helping with the hormonal imbalance that causes PMS. Just my 2 cents worth. Hope this helps somebody!

I can't think of better timing for this article. I've noticed that I always crave sugar right before my period and it often causes me pain. I noticed a long time ago too to avoid salty foods and caffeine. Didn't know about the other points made, think I may buy your book!

These rec's are helpful and true from my own experience of severe PMS. Never did take psychotropics for it but have taken a vitamin supplement called Optivite, made by the Optimox Corporation for years. It is formulated especially for women with PMS... I follow the dietary guidelines and take that supplement and what can I say... I'm not "cured" (I doubt that the effects of naturally occuring hormone fluctuations could be completely eliminated) but my symptoms decreased dramatically which makes life at my house much more pleasant all month, every month.
