Yeah, the food industry has such a scam going. Someone told me to think of the wrapper of a food item as the advertisment. They have alot of freedom in using vague terms to describe healthy. What is telling is the ingredient label. So many times sugar is listed under 3 or 4 different names. Everything is so deceptive. I bought "The Maker's Diet" and it was scary to read. I have been on so many diets throughout my life and I lost but couldn't stick to it. The reason? I was eating foods that really were not foods at all. They were chemicals and fillers and flavorings. That was why I was always hungry. After following the Maker's Diet (and it's not a diet at all it's a way to live) I have lost 35 lbs in about 4 months and have not been hungry on it once! I don't feel deprived. I do not eat refined sugar, processed food, preserved food. Basically if God didn't make it I don't eat it. For sweetness I use raw honey or raw maple syrup and it is a million times sweeter than sugar so you end up not using a bunch of it plus you don't have those sugar highs and lows. I could go on and on and on about how wonderful I feel and how easy this was. I changed my mindset from losing weight to wanting to feel better. The don't own a scale and the only way I know how much I've lost was because of a visit to the doctor for an allergy prescription refill and the weight check. My clothes are now loose and I know this will work for so many people. We just have to get off this marketing merry go round that the food industry has us stuck on. This book should be mandatory reading for young people so that they can understand that food is not always what it seems to be. anyway good luck with the weight loss and learning about what foods REALLY are the good ones not the foods that the companies want us to buy so they can make big bucks.

I try to avoid most of the items listed above, however, I do make smoothies. I use just fruit and ice. These are not the ones that are listed above are they. I figured making them like this, there was nothing unnatural in them.

whey protein shakes aren't that high in calories andd you are also getting te good effects of using soy -more protein &more vitamins and less fat and usually less sugar.when you buy a smoothie whenyou are out with the exception of smoothy king where they have pamphets with all nutritius info on all their shake ,everyehere else somekind of fructose corn syrup is added to juices and sometimes even reg calorie reg fat yorgurt is added to them you can usually taste how sweet they so if you make your own and also add soy milk instead of reg it will be more nutrious and tastes great

I don't think it matters what you eat.GOD made all food. It is just a matter of moderation. Go to a bookstore and ask for the book"The weigh Down Diet" by Gwen Shamblin and it will explain what I am talking about.By the way- I am FAT...Fabulous and thick!!!!!!!

So we know what foods are bad, but how about a list of SUPERFOODS? (like broccoli!) Can anyone else think of other foods that are tasty, filling and just all around good for you?

I love caesar salads -- thanks for the caloric information -- will eat them with balsamic vinegar and olive oil from now on.

Joy, what is your opinion of SKIM PLUS milk? It has zero fat but is 110 cals per 8oz. "Regular" skim milk has 80 cals. (Tastes great, even plain.) Thanks, Ramona

I guess this is new information to some people, but if you have ever been serious about your health, fitness, etc; you would have already done the research on this. Some people are sooo gullible. Yikes!

I hardly ever have any of these because I use Foodfit.com as my guide. The best nutritional site I ever found. My weight went from 204 to 140 and blood pressure from high(hypertension) to 120/70. My weight has remained at 140 for over 2 years. Thank you! Mike Harville Fort Worth, Texas
