I usually avoid most of these items, but whey protein smoothies are required while weight training, to build muscle and long distance running. I have lost 160lbs over 1 and a half years. Should I keep up the smoothies?

Congratulations on your weight loss! You're right, whey protein is very important to building muscle. My husband and I use Zero Carb from Isopure. It tastes great, and doesn't pack all the extra calories from sugar carbs.

I think it depends on how big your servings are. Also what fruit you use, some fruit have more sugar than others.

Ok yea this might be useful to a sit on your couch and try to lose weight person, but if you want a ripped body than this is not the way to go. If you are serious and do atleast 45 minutes of intense cardio and weight train six days a week than this is not for you. Calories are needed for muscle and if you don't eat enough fat your body will store it instead of using it.

Yeah, the food industry has such a scam going. Someone told me to think of the wrapper of a food item as the advertisment. They have alot of freedom in using vague terms to describe healthy. What is telling is the ingredient label. So many times sugar is listed under 3 or 4 different names. Everything is so deceptive. I bought "The Maker's Diet" and it was scary to read. I have been on so many diets throughout my life and I lost but couldn't stick to it. The reason? I was eating foods that really were not foods at all. They were chemicals and fillers and flavorings. That was why I was always hungry. After following the Maker's Diet (and it's not a diet at all it's a way to live) I have lost 35 lbs in about 4 months and have not been hungry on it once! I don't feel deprived. I do not eat refined sugar, processed food, preserved food. Basically if God didn't make it I don't eat it. For sweetness I use raw honey or raw maple syrup and it is a million times sweeter than sugar so you end up not using a bunch of it plus you don't have those sugar highs and lows. I could go on and on and on about how wonderful I feel and how easy this was. I changed my mindset from losing weight to wanting to feel better. The don't own a scale and the only way I know how much I've lost was because of a visit to the doctor for an allergy prescription refill and the weight check. My clothes are now loose and I know this will work for so many people. We just have to get off this marketing merry go round that the food industry has us stuck on. This book should be mandatory reading for young people so that they can understand that food is not always what it seems to be. anyway good luck with the weight loss and learning about what foods REALLY are the good ones not the foods that the companies want us to buy so they can make big bucks.
