Self-Massage for Tired Hands Posted Fri, Feb 22, 2008, 3:19 pm PST

I find myself doing this a lot if I’ve been working on my laptop or giving too many massages. Anyone with tired hands should give it a try.

Sitting in a chair, place your right ankle over your left thigh just above the knee. Let the right knee fall/relax outward toward the floor. Sit comfortably.

With your left palm, place the base of the left thumb squarely into your right ankle bone. The ankle bone’s rounded and slightly pointy shape is perfect for massaging the palm of the hand.

Press the muscles at the base of the left thumb into the ankle bone, as deeply as you like, and do slow movements back and forth, up and down, or in circles, rubbing the muscles of the hand against the ankle.

Continue as long as you like then switch hands and ankles. It’s no more complicated than that. It can easily be done "dry," or with oil or lotion. If you’re at work, no one will notice as you do this at your desk.
