I try to get 40 x 6 minutes of exercise a week, minimum. My HDL is about 45 , my LDL about 60, my TRi-Gs at about 55. I'm on a very low fat diet for severe cardiovascular disease, and had a 3x CABG in January 2006.

I believe the doctor's comments are a good starting point for conducting further research. Over a period of 5.5 years, I have raised my HDL-C from 42 to 69. I average between 180 and 250 minutes a week of cardiovascular exercise and have done so for over 65 months. My records show it took my 37 months to raise my HDL-C from 42 to 69. I am obese according to the BMI charts, so I find the association between weight and blood pressuree (mine is now) and HDL-C levels to be inconsistent with most of what I read. More research is needed in this area.

I forgot to mention that I am now 58 and began the increase in HDL-C when I was 52. Laurence---get more exercise to increase your HDL. 45 is low and is this is more important than your LDL or your tri-g levels.
