I have tried to quit smoking before. Here is my problem, I have an eating disorder, so the thought of gaining weight is something that I just cannot handle. I really want to quit, but cannot handle the weight gain what can I do to not let this be the reason or the excuse to stop smoking?

1,2: Start rolling your own cigarettes. If you have to work to put your cigarettes together, then it's a bit of a pain to keep smoking. You aren't smoking as quickly either. Drum tobacco sells its tobacco in a bag with its cigarette papers inside so you can roll your own. If you don't want to do that, try switching your brand of cigarette to something you hate. It was hard finding anything that offended me. I think they were few and far between. I quit smoking over 12 years ago and haven't smoked since. I smoked just about every brand out there too. Smoked 3 packs a day. If I can quit, anyone can. Listen to meditation tapes or music that relaxes you as much as you can. Your nerves will be so rattled when you withdraw. Sip on lots of water. I always made a vege tray so I could pick from that constantly when I was at home. But when you're out and about, I made sure there was gum, hard candy, or cough drops on me. I always carried a bottle of water with me. Sipping on water helped a lot! I took my walkman (dating myself here, I know) whenever I went out. If I went for a walk, then I didn't have to linger and talk to anyone. It got me to my destination quickly. Anyway, there's no excuse to not stop smoking. Everything you wonder about, there's an answer for it. You can lose any weight you gain. You can gain a lung you lose. Stop smoking. Now!

I would suggest talking to your healthcare provider. Smoking is a serious addiction. I work with lung cancer patients and many cannot quit smoking even after that grave diagnosis. There are some prescription medications that can help. Also, they can counsel you on using multiple nicotine products together; i.e. the patch and gum/lozenge. Sometimes this can help as well. It does help to have someone monitoring you and helping you through the times ahead!

Stay as active as you can to keep your mind off of smoking. Read. Do puzzles. Exercise. Get involved with your friends. Drink water.

What did I just do? well it cant take back word’s. But I only said the truth. I’m sick of it people need to wake up they been in the dark way to long. I hate sigerats I hate it so much I can’t even spell it. See this is the thing there is no reason on the face of this earth why people smoke it’s a drug. The problem is the only reason why the US government don’t band it is because to many people in the government smoke and there are too many people smoking there would be an uproar if people could not get there cancer stick’s. So the only thing I can say about those people is that they have no freewill there drug is there will. I may have lost 2 friends today but I think standing up fore what you believe in is more important. It is even more important when that thing is true. When you love someone you don’t sit back and let them kill them salves and those people that do nothing about it don’t really car about the other person. The funny thing is people say it cost more to quit that’s not true. If your spending 150$ a month. When it cost only 60$ to quit. Hmmm Lets see here 60$ or 150$. You see you can quit any one who can buy the stuff can quit the stuff. Ok now what can someone do with a 150 hmm save it for 12 month’s and you got one thousand and 8 hundred dollars. The reason I fill like this is because I lost my grandma from this deadly toy.
