Symptoms of a heart attack for women include the list in a previous comment; but it can also include such things as: a tooth ache or just not feeling good for no reason. Diabetics may feel no pain at all but just do not feel good. Anyone who comes to an emaergency department and complains of any of the symptoms of heart attack MUSt be seen immediatley regardless of the day of the week or staffing levels. Time wasted means death of heart muscle

Interesting article... what about long weekends! Some ways to avoid having a heart attack in the first place though can include getting up from your desk at work and walking around! Although this may be unproductive, it well help reduce stress and ease your day along so that you can spend your weekend enjoying the time and not in line at the hospital!

My heart attack happened early on a Monday morning. I had been woken at 1.30 am with pain in my chest, shoulders, upper and lower jaws and in my ears. This continued until I rang my doctor at 9 am and was instructed to call an ambulance immediately. I live in a rural area and the local hospital just isn't capable of coping with major issues. I was sent by ambulance 100kl away where stayed in critical care for 10 days before being flown to a major city for surgery. I was 50 yrs old when I had my heart attack.

I was trying to figure out how I am supposed to know if I am having a heart attack or not. I have yrs of history of severely high BP and now have been diagnosed with Malignant Hypertension and told that the bottom of my heart muscle if hardening and not pumping correctly. Mom's Alzheimer's is getting so much worse. Dad shows a dementia of some sort but is stubborn, youngest sister diagnosed in Jan. with Mantle Cell Lymphoma Cancer and is in round 7 of 8 chemo sessions. Then in about May we found that this same sister's hubby has colon cancer. He's had 24" removed and has a long way to go to get well again. Everything is crashing down around me and even though I see my counselor weekly, I feel I'm about to snap. And now my chest pains are getting to be horrible. Any thoughts? Vision gets weird and I can't see good at all and I get dizzy and nauseous and just need to sit down quietly as soon as possible. I'm a 58 years old disabled woman so exercises are out.

Wait...What?..Time your heart attacks? It's not like you can time a heart attack or any other ailment. I had an appendectomy and if I had waited for another day my appendix would have ruptured. Hospitals should increase their staff on week-ends since that seems to be the time more people get hurt and physical anyway.
