In an earlier paragraph Dr.Margolis, you referred to an article in AMJ that did not recommend closure of PFO's as it was felt that they did not contribute to strokes. The above comments therefore are confusing and somewhat contradictory to me. Perhaps I am not understanding correctly. Would you explain please? Thank you.

I would like to ask if this PFO would show up on an Echo-stress test, or if it would be necessary to have a Heart Cath/test to find it?? Thank you.

I went into the hospital to have cardiac ablation, and not only could they NOT help me with my arrythmia, I am now suffering from migraine headaches, nonstop. Has anyone else had this problem?

I suffered from frequent migraine headaches nearly my entire life, sometimes occurring as often as twice weekly. Preventative medication did little to help. After undergoing open heart surgery to correct Ebstein's Anomaly (w/atrial septal defect), I have only had two migraines in a three year period. This article states, "... do these findings mean you should rush to a cardiologist to learn whether you have a PFO? Certainly not. It would be a good idea only if you have had an unexplained stroke." My question is, could migraine be taken as a symptom of a more severe underlying problem? I nearly died from the effects of undiagnosed Ebstein's Anomaly. I know it hinges on how widespread the occurrence of atrial septal defect is found combined with migraine, but if it is a large number, would it not be a good idea to see a cardiologist as a preventive measure to rule out a deeper, perhaps fatal, health issue?

I've found a product - all natural - that's been instrumental in helping me with migraines. It's called VIBE. Unless your doctor has told you to stay away from certain foods, this product is for you. When I feel any headache coming on, I mix an ounce of this with some juice or water, and my headache is gone 10 minutes later. It's compounded food, but it's very potent. Many people have said they feel an immediate difference, but that's not me. For more info, you can call (618) 355-1135 and listen to a pre-recorded message. The very first testimonial is a woman talking about how her husband has suffered from migraines for years! And the best thing- it's good for your body because it provides many nutrients we generally lack. I could go on an on about this product, so if you're interested, email me (foxyblu@verizon.net) and I will forward you a .pdf file that you can take to your doctor. (I would attach it, but I don't know how). I gave a copy to my doctor and he said it was fine to take, but as a woman, I needed more calcium. And the added bonus? I managed to lose a few pounds too.

From when i was 15 i was getting headaches so severe i couldnt see anything when i had an attack, then two weeks before i turned 19 i was rushed to hospital and discovered i had had a stoke. Nobody could believe it , the doctors found i had a PFO. Unfortunately there was nothing they could do for the blood clot in my brain. once i got the closure i found that my headaches disappeared. The paralysis may be gone but the emotional and mental wounds will be there for a good few years yet.

i read your article and i see many of your readers are interestings about the HYDROCODONE, so im going to giv eyou some information about it What is the most important information I should know about hydrocodone and acetaminophen ? Hydrocodone is habit forming. It is possible become physically and/or psychologically dependent on the medication. Do not take more than the prescribed amount of medication or take it for longer than is directed by your doctor. Withdrawal effects may occur if hydrocodone and acetaminophen is stopped suddenly after several weeks of continuous use. Your doctor may recommend a gradual reduction in dose. Avoid alcohol while taking hydrocodone and acetaminophen . Alcohol can increase drowsiness and dizziness caused by the medication, possibly resulting in unconsciousness and death. Also, acetaminophen can be damaging to the liver when taken with alcohol. hydrocodone and acetaminophen may increase the effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, pain relievers, anxiety medicines, seizure medicines, and muscle relaxants. Dangerous sedation, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur if hydrocodone and acetaminophen is taken with any of these medications. Tell your doctor about all medicines that you are taking, and do not take any medicine without first talking to your doctor. hydrocodone and acetaminophen may cause constipation. Drink plenty of water (six to eight full glasses a day) to lessen this side effect. Increased fiber in the diet may also help to alleviate constipation. If you want more information about that you can check in the website http://www.crdrx.com about that medication and another ones, and about prices and systems to payment and delivered have a great day

fionah779: I am very curious to hear if you are still having your migraines with aura. I had an ASD closure done about 3 weeks ago, and after the first week i started to have that those migraines. I've had 5 of them since then. I am going in next week for a TEE. From what i've found online it is not completely uncommon to start having them after an ASD closure, but it sounds like the cause is unknown. Did you ever find out what was going on, have you stopped having them?
