not a word about all that liquor we carry for a snake bite.....will it help or will we get stopped for drunken driving going to emergency room?

Is there anything else, besides rushing to a help center, that someone can do to help the victim? This was all about what not to do and calling and running, but not a single way to at least slow down the effects of the venom, if there's one.

Alcohol is a big no-no! The best thing to do for a snakebite victim is to keep them at rest and as calm as possible, to keep their heartrate down, which will slow the spread of the venom. And of course get them to a hospital ASAP. Also, if possible, get a good ID of the snake so they know what bit the person and they can provide the correct antivenom. The best thing of course is not to get bit in the first place! Snakes gebnerally don't want to mess with people, so if you see one, avoid it ar just stand still. Wear sturdy boots and jeans if hiking in snake country and don't go poking your hands into places snakes might be hiding. They don't WANT to bite us, but if they feel cornered, or get stepped on or grabbed, they will.
