I don't understand how the authors of the study derive their conclusion... continual 4g dosages of acetaminophen use by healthy young people caused an indication of liver damage, therefore it's "safe"?

Does this Simeon Margolis guy ever deign to respond to our questions or comments or are us mere mortals not worthy of a reply? I guess he doesn't bother to listen from his ivory tower.

If you think these drugs you just mentioned are going to stop the pain of Fibromyalgia you are entirely wrong. It takes more stronger drugs to ease my pain, and the drugs need to be improved. If you had to suffer each day as i do then you would understand. All that Doctors are afraid of now is causing an addiction for that person they are not considering there the pain they have to go through. I cannot even function as a wife and mother because of this disease.I need the right medications to help me even if the may be addicting!! It's my body,my life, and my choice how i chose to handle my health problems. All doctors need to understand what life is like when u can't even take care of your own family.Sometime it could be them walking in my shoes.REMEMBER THIS PLEASE!!!!!

Pain killers are important. A slight risk of increasing our risk of certain conditions is worth it. We've been using this stuff for years now. It's not like we are just suddenly gonna stop using it. Pain killers are great. The risk is small. Doctors wouldn't give it to us if it killed us!

I'm an arthritis/Fibro sufferer that LOVED Bextra. It worked great for me. I wish they'd let it be put back on the market. To combat Fibro stiffness/pain, I use Mucinex every 12 hrs. I can really tell when I skip it. Then I'm hurting terribly. Betty J in OKC

Domeki5, I suffer from the same thing your wife has. That stuff your talking about, it really works good? I take OC 40mg and lyrica150mg they help me some what.I mean I still have pain everyday. but, if I could get off them it would be great. Been on them for 5yrs. The first doctor I had put me on them ,But never told me what the side effects were. Needless to say he is in jail now for selling oc!!! For PUSHANGA, My mom has the same thing you have, and Doctors use to tell her to take Tylenol, and that there was nothing wrong with her it was all in her head. They use to tell her. Now she has a good Doctor and she has pain pills and the patches, she says the patches work pretty good. She knows when its time to change it. For the most part she is aways in a lot of pain. She use to cook every day now she dosen't at all. All she dose is sit in her recliner, she can't even sleep in a bed. She has been like this for many years now. It hurts me to see her in all that pain, I wish I could take it away. Most Doctors are clueless about the desease. There is really no cure for it. Well I wish you all the best.

drugs such as vicodin, percocet should only be used short term for acute pain because they contain acetominaphen. i have taken this stuff for a couple years for cronic pain and suffered damage to my kidneys and all kind of problems with my gastro intestinal system. I have broken my back in a motorcycle accident and 2 on the job injuries to my back and have 2 herniated disks also on top of vertabral wedging. I am now taking oxycontin which is basically the same thing as the above mentioned medicines without the acetominaphen, and all the problems with my guts are gone. yes it is addicting and with my condition the trade off isnt even a factor to be considered living with the pain i have. i have been to many doctors for my problems and unfortunately they are more concerned with legal ramifications than my quality of life and most are against perscribing this kind of medicine. the feds proposal to make it legal to prescribe 90 days worth instead of allowing only 30 days worth of medicine would do a great service to me because i wont burn up my ins fund so fast with visits every month not to mention having to get to the doc so often. somehow i got a feeling the ins cost is what is really behind the feds proposition but it sure would benefit me.
