Thank you Dr. for writing on this subject. I wish there was more information on these anti-depressants and there potential for abuse and addiction, however. No one seems to know why someone would abuse this type of drug nor do I but I have lived through a horrible time with my husband and Effexor abuse. It has resulted with our being divorced after 26 years of marriage . He has had a most horrific time withdrawing from Effexor and became a "monster" not even the same person I knew. I still don't know if the extreme effects were caused from an interaction with narcotics he takes for chronic pain but I am left with many questions.

Where does it say that these drugs, Effexor, is addictive, and can be abused? I know you sure cant stop taking them, with out major dizzy spells, and headaches. I would love to find a place to go to "dry out" and get off them if there is something better for my depression.

I AM WRITTING FOR MY WIFE WHO IS IN NURSING HOME FOR SOME PHYSICAL THEROPY. SHE WAS ADMITTED TO THIS FACILITY UPON BEING RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL, BECAUSE THE DR'S AT HOSPITAL COULD NOT FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HER. SINCE THE FIRST OF THE YEAR SHE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE HOSPITAL ABOUT 4 TIMES, EACH TIME WAS RELEASED IN ALMOST AS BAD A CONDINION AS WHEN SHE WAS ADMITTED. EACH TIME IT SEEMS THAT THE ONLY THING THEY DO IS ADD MORE MEDS. HOW CAN I GET ACHECK ON IF SHE COULD BE HAVING A DRUG REACTION? IS THERE SOME ONE OR SOMEPLACE THAT I CAN SUBMIT THE LIST OF THE MEDS SHE IS ON TO GET A CHECK FOR ANY REACTION? I DON'T THINK THAT SOME OF THE DR'S GIVING HER MEDS ARE EVEN CHECKING WHAT THE OTHER DRS HAVE PERSCRIBED. SHE HAS BLOOD CLOTS IN HER RIGHT LEG AND SOME IN HER LUNGS, A FILTER WAS PUT IN AFTER IT WAS FOUND SHE HAD THEM IN HER LUNGS. PLEASE RESPOND ASAP AS THINGS ARE GETTING VERY DESPERATE. MY EMAIL IS =im2followhim@yahoo.com, thank you EDMOND NICHOLS

How do I know if Cymbalta has stopped working for me? I was told that I am taking the max. dosage, 60mg. twice a day. My emotional level is flat, not up or down. Most times I just don't care if I do anything today or not.

I have just begun to search for help beyond my current Medical Advisors. Small town knowledge may be limited to small town experiance, dispite colledge education. If I have ruened my life do to past drug and alcohol abuse or that was purely the symtom of my problem . I would just like a quality of life worth living for my remaining 20 years. Many anti-depressants have beed tryed.

My doctor prescribed Pamelor 20mg at night to help with my migrain headaches and they help me sleep. I also take prozac/10mg daily for anxiety. Do they cause and interactions that I should be aware of? thank you, Traci

I have sufferd depression and panic attacks for years, and they seem to be getting worse, I have been under psychiatric doctors care AND STILL AM and have been on numerous antidepressants at different times. Right now, and for weeks, I am totaly not myself. I've lost all interest in my hobbies, don't have any friends to talk to, (misery loves company, but company hates misery). I am withdrawn and cry uncontrolably every day. I need to do something ASAP. My self asteem is rock bottom and I just feel I'm fighting this alone and I'm at my wits end. All day I feel like my insides are crawling out and I can't even stand myself. I'M SNOWBALLING DOWN A HILL. I have tried to help myself with exercise and attitude change, but it never lasts. I also have narcolepsy and take Provigel for that along with clonopin for depression. Most days I don't even want to get out of bed, and then I don't want to go to bed at night. My Dr. said that was the depression. Besides that, I also have seasonal depression which at this time of year gets worse. I don't know where to turn. I feel so alone and worthless. At age 50 I am attending college and I don't know how I'm going to cope going back this fall. As I'm typing this, my heart is racing and I'm lightheaded, a feeling that stays with me almost constantly. Any advice would be appreciated.

I started Zoloft six years ago and remember the first time this happened to me. I had episodes occasionally for a few years until I was put on the generic for Zoloft. I began getting most of the symptoms every couple weeks until I went on line and did some research and I believe the symptoms I experience are directly related to this syndrome. I have decided to go back on the name brand Zoloft to see if these symptoms let up, I will have to wait and see and keep in contact with my dr.

Having taken antidepressants for years and tritan family medication for migraine, I was on Zomig at the time and it reacted with my antidepressants. The result was horrible but thankfully I had someone there to recognise and get me the help I needed. Always check to make sure you know all the risks when taking more than one medication.
