Act now ~?~?~ by doing what ~?~?~ If there's no treatment why spend any of a tight budget on high priced DR's when they can't do anything for most of the middle class pop. ~?~ I feel so invalid when you give useless advice....

"Do many people whom you talk to seem to mumble (or to speak unclearly)?" If one were wise enough to choose "whom" over "who," one would surely know to phrase it "...to whom you talk..."

None of the reports I've seen mention anything about the noise level in restaurants. I carry a decimeter with me when I go to a restaurant and it is common to find noise levels of 85dB or greater. This is a level to which short term exposure can cause NIHL (Noise Induced Hearing Loss) which is cumulative and irrepairable. To say that diners are exposed to this much noise at a single seating says nothing about the exposure restaurant workers receive in an 8 hour shift. It amazes me that OSHA has not taken a stand on this.

It is true. When I go to the doctor just for a physical, I can't hear any bass tones. Darn Limp Bizket and my emo-ness when I was young. lol

For more than 10 years I have been telling my children and grandchildren to lower the volume when listening. I also told my son-in-law who is an ENT Doctor than his future is very secure based on the volumes inside vehicles that pull up along side of me in traffic with their radios and large speakers blaring. These young people do not understand what constant abnormal volumes do to the ear drum and ear nerves. But then with today's youth, it will be somebody eles's fault and they will look to sue somebody.
