Have we ever considered that Alzheimer's is a misdiagnosis for CJD(human form of madcow)in this country? We already know that the gov't doesn't like to closely watch the beef and dairy industry. Can it be any real shock that CJD is here and rampantly spreading underneath all of our noses like a cancer by another name, like Alzheimers? That's the real point behind this article. Have we noticed that Eat Beef and Dairy isn't in the list of recommendations here to prevent Alzheimers? Wonder why?

another nice noncommital piece of work that leaves the reader feeling like there's no real options for them. thank you. what else can you give out as advice on the one hand and in the last breath criticize as not a preventative measure in the next? how can you say eat fish and get your omega 3s but don't count on them to do anything to save you in the end? hypocrite. what more definitive evidence is needed?

i just read the article about how patients rarely discuss alternative medicine treatments with their doctors. after listening to this moron say take your vitamins but you're wasting your time, what's the surprise that people aren't confiding in thier doctors about alternative treatments? it's not like they're open to it.

Everything has a cause and effect relationship. No disease just falls out of the sky and NO drug will Ever be the answer to any chronic degenerative disease EVER. Most of the time they just contribute to the problem. I am a physician and researcher. Wnat the CURE and ANSWER to Alzhiemers? Here is the cause and effect relationship that are not funded by drug studies. Aviod Pesticides like the plaque...they go right into the fatty tissue of the brain and you need a 21 day body detox/purification program to get the chemicals out of the system. When the enacted a ban on pesticides in Israel, guess what? Breast Cancer virtually disappeared. Also, avoid the flu shot and any vaccine as much as possible. Studies confirm a 10x increase in Alzhiemers if you get flu shot b/c of the aluminum and mercury contained in here. Enuff said. Next, get the silver fillings out of your mouth b/c the definitely leech mercury vapors right into the brain tissue. That is a fact. Is it any wonder why basically all the plaques of alzhiemer patients contain residue of aluminum, pesticides and/or mercury. Lets get with it fellow doctors and researchers. Stop acting clueless and looking away from the truth of the matter. You all know it to be true. I know working for BigPharma you are not allowed to explore this truth as it is all about the lies of drugs, drugs, drugs. Wake up and have a conscious for God sakes. Dr. John

Oh yeah, eat organic only fruits/veggies and stay away from all synthetic vitamins which are nothing but man-made chemicals that do more harm than good. You definitely need vitamin support but they must be WHOLE-FOOD. The best company around by far is Standard Process. They offer organically grown whole-food vitamins that actually work and keep the body healthy. Throw out the centrum and one a day garbage that will shorten your lifespan. It is crucial to know the difference. Dr. John

While this author may think that vitamin E is not worthwhile, Linus Pauling made the statement that if he could recommend but one vitamin to take it would be vitamin E. Without getting scientific here I will summarize that all vitamin E is not created alike. Cheap synthetics vitamins are made out of things you should not ingest in a healthy human system. Just because they are chemically the vitamin does not mean your body can assimilate it. I must note that this author did not mention that It has been determined that heavy metals such as aluminum have been found in higher proportions in those afflicted with Alzheimer's disease. Replacing aluminum and Teflon seems an appropriate move in light of current research.

I agree with the negative comments about this author and the way he wrote this article. This guy is a hipocrite and it is no wonder people have no faith in Md's when it comes to "alternative" medicine. However, I stronly advise the diet and nutrients he recommends. By the way, I am an MD. It bothers me that my collegues are such morons! Norman Lepoff, M.D.

It has also been seen that incidence of Alzheimers disease is much lower in people on estrogen and in cigarette smokers as per many documented medical studies.Interesting...

Even before I clicked on this article's link, I knew it was going to be yet another virtual killjoy. I am so glad I just skipped to the comments section. There's no point in 'reporting' anything more than "the government" is feeding we the people outright poison. Anybody out there disprove the report from the film "Supersize Me"? And I wondered what was wrong with humanity's history of eating and living with 'Mother Nature' when someone decided to "improve" fertilizer. Good thing we the people still have free enterprise, or the food growing naturally out of dirt, rain, and sunshine would be as awful as the stuff they sell at supermarkets. Compare your body's reaction to it, please. I advise everyone to question the companies about what those ingredients are that they expect us to consume. What do they mean by "spices", and "natural flavors"? (I'd like to be comforted by the fact that fruit juice should be the natural stuff drained out of a natural fruit grown out of unmolested earth instead of lab-created artificial stuff.) And further I implore you to stay away from anything synthetic. Just say NO to drugs, Americans. Knowledge is power.

Mental exercise that involves challenging the brain in new ways is a key factor. In a recent JAMA study, computer exercises or games, if you will, using speed of processing as a metric combined with alternating challenges produced the greatest long-term benefit in cognitive ability. Also, Mediterranean diet and exercise contribute. - brain.com
