I'm not menopausal yet... but cohosh is also used in some remedies for cramping during periods.. I have never found it to work for that either. But, there are supplements that help with many problematic symptoms and I use myself as proof!!

160 mg of black cohosh is a joke. No wonder it's ineffective. That's like giving out 1/2 a tylenol pill for your migrane headache. You aren't even trying to get a result with that amount being used. Get real.

My mother takes 500mg capsules of black cohosh twice a day to relieve her symptoms. She hasn't taken estrogen replacement therapy in years. My mother has more sense than any of these quacks who can't even put together a trial with effective dosages of black cohosh. I trust her more than any tainted study that was set up to fail.

DBS - you are so right. To save a lot of money, I suggest you have your mother check out swansonvitamins.com and she can get 540mg Black Cohosh (100 capsules) for between $2.49 and $3.49 depending on whether it is on sale or not. There are other natural hormone essential combinations available from them, but the commom factor is Black Cohosh. To order a catalog by phone, just call 1-800-437-4148 - the are open 24/7.

4:Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out and compare if it's a better price or not for the amount she's getting.
