    Thanks for addressing this issue! I never knew it was so common. I was misdiagnosed with asthma after years of complaining of a persistent, nonproductive cough. A different doctor prescribed a PPI, which helped for awhile, but I was worried about the long-term effects of being on meds. I got lucky and met a doc who told me about a clinical trial for a device to treat GERD. I've had it for a year and a half and have had great results. The company who makes the device is called Torax Medical.
