Last year I saw studies that showed that obesity increases your risk of cancer substantially. It scared the hell out of me. I have since lost 47 pounds on the 9th Law Diet. I have about 25 more to go, but I'm on my way to decreasing my chances of cancer. Kim

Thyroid cancer does effect us for the rest of our lives...some of us are ok after surgery and some of us aren't. I am coming up on my 4th year post surgery. I do wish that thyroid cancer got the attention it deserves. There should be walks for thyroid cancer, and more doctors (and patients) advocating for more exposure to the fastest growing cancer out there!! www.thyca.org

Had a large nodule for several years. It grew a little and so the Dr. sent me for the biopsy! It was cancer. I was 29 years old. I was very proactive at getting the thyroid gland removed and the radioactive iodine treatment done, five years later I remain cancer free! I have to take a very high dose of thyroid medication so the cancer does not have an opportunity to come back. I have had some side effects which I believe were from the radioactive iodine treatment, which consist of allergies that I had never experienced before.
