This is so basic. How can you tell if it is MRSA? My son has eczema and tends to 'catch' infections in his skin easily. How do I know whether or not this is the 'usual' or something more worrysome? And why is that not included in the article? Anyone with open skin due to abbrasions or czema or anything like that is susceptible to skin infection!

I have been diagnosed with MRSA and have been through 3 courses of sulfa antibiotics in the past 4 months. It manifests as large, painful boils which make the surrounding tissues hot to the touch, but do not cause me to run a fever. The antibiotics cause the boils to heal almost completely, but then after being off the antibiotics for about 3 weeks, they return. My doctor seems to think it's nothing to be concerned with. Can this spread to my bloodstream or other organs, or is it truly nothing to be concerned about?

denise_michelle, I have fought with boils for years, I finally found the best controll, almost cure for them. Use an abrassave scrubbie, I use the rough shower gloves sold at any drug store and gold dial antibactiral soap. I have been amazed at the results. Use the scrubby all over but concentrat on the areas the boils come up. Good Luck!!
