Stupid article. Of all disadvantages or alleged disadvantages why dwell on the problem of splitting a pill in two? That's it? That's what the fuss is about? That speaks of the effectivity of generics?

I have had an allergic reaction to a generic antibiotic, and not to the name brand. I also had a pain medication in brand and generic: the generic hardly affected the pain, and only lasted about an hour. The brand was much better. There are many more experiences. Generics are NOT the same.

Good. It's about time we cut into the budgets of those big name and overly-wealthy pharmaceutical companies. They get rich while some people struggle just to have medication!

Also remember to ask how much you'll pay for a generic vs. brand name. Sometimes, the difference will only be a few dollars...!

The FDA has been easing bioequivalence requirements for generics at the cost of safety and efficacy in order for the insurance companies to save a few dollars. Did you know that there are many "approved" generics that have never been tested in humans? The OGD has proposed that life saving medicines such as Vancocin could be developed by generics witout ever testing in humans. This is really scary stuff, especially with an escalating CDAD epidemic in nursing homes and hospitals.

Is that your only reason why brand medications might be better than generics?..because of size? By the way, most pharmacies offer to cut the pills if needed. How about the fact that some of the inactive ingredients in a generic may cause an allergic reaction. Reading this was a waste of a couple minutes. Either way, generics are beneficial to the health care system. RCP PharmD. Candidate 09

If you have to cut the pills in half,you must have the wrong prescription.I go with the generic and the correct prescription so I don't have to cut pills.
