Green tea has recently attracted attention as a natural product possessing preventative effects against cancer. The catechins in tea can suppress carcinogens and inhibit cancerous cell growth. Tea is rich in what many believe helps prevent cancer such as carotene, vitamin C and E and dietary fiber. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), the main constituent of green tea is a powerful anti-oxidant and significantly anti-carcinogenic. I found the best organic Japanese green tea at www.sakurateahouse.com

I would say that the focus of the study is all wrong to begin with and not very relevant. Just because you put beta carotene or lycopene into a multivitamin doesn't make it a mixed carotenoid much less a good supplement. In a good supplement, you would get all of the mixed carotenoids that reflect what you would eat in a salad in a separate supplement or multivitamin. It's usually not found in most multivitamins. There has to be mixed carotenoids in the supplement to have a synergestic effect and absorb well in your body. Speaking of diet, what were the diets of the men in those studies? Were they coughing back large amounts of multivitamins with fresh pressed veggie drinks or while they were crackin' open another beer? That sort of thing makes a difference too and I decry the gullibilty of the NIH, ACS, and doctors everywhere who think that their patients in the study are all model citizens following their advice to a tee. People aren't always eating the healthiest foods even with aggressive cancer. Even people with aggressive lung cancer have been known to smoke. Are we to believe they were all vegans with prostate cancer? Get real.

Saw palmetto has been know to decrease the PSA levels in the prostate. One dose of a multi-vitamin should be taken, Isotonix is best for absorbtion.

Hmmm!!!I eat what my body craves as a female. My body tells me what it lacks. My grandparents on both sides ate eggs, bacon/sausage, home fries, and whatever else grandma cooked and lived to be 85 and 98...just one month shy of 99...the 99 yo salted everything b/4 she even tasted it...so, I eat what I want and what my body tells me it needs. Then again, I'm female, survived kidney cancer 7 years ago, and just decided to enjoy the life I have. I go on the premise, "What ever float's your boat." Live life to the fullest and enjoy it, never know what G*d's plan is for you...just my opinion. Cheers!!! My cup is always half full, hope the same for the rest of you. :- )

your last paragraph, replace the word vitamins with prescription drugs and I would agree totally. After all, what really kills more people in this country every year drugs or vitamins or doctors? Doctors #1 Drugs #2 way, way down the list is vitamins if at all

Well im quite confused now after reading said article. I have an enlarged prostate & a PSA test level of 3.2. Im 45 yrs old and at present taking as part of my daily diet tomato paste (160gram can), saw palmetto supplement, pomegranate juice concentrate, vit C (1000mg) and other antioxidants plus vit B complex (1000mg). Hoping against all odds that it can reduce the chance/risk of having the BIG C in my prostate. The article sort of doused cold water on that hope... there should be future researches/studies that are really conclusive about the effects off the above stated antioxidants on the BIG C. Just an input.

The comment so often heard is eat a healthy diet, etc, but these comments do not state the whole truth that 80 to 90% (conservatively) of serious diseases can be prevented by a whole food plant-based diet. (See The China Study by T. Colin Campbell). Forget the supplements.
