I have had endometrial and colon cancer. A test was done at the Mayo clinic showing that I have a muted gene that opens the door to cancer. It has been seven years since the colon cancer. How often is a colonoscopy needed? Thank you

For those of us who has had a colon resection, we should be tested every 2-3 years instead of every 5-10. It seems that most doctors do not take your systoms seriously.....you know your body better than any test! Why wait until cancer has spread to diagnose it!

The article on new testing procedures for colon cancer are very encouraging to many. I also avoided colonoscopy because of the pre-op laxatives and their effects. A blood test will certainly encoursge many to be tested for this deadly disease.

I really like it. It can be very helpful to people who don't know about cancer's test and treatment.

I AGREE WITH THE AUTHOR OF THIS ARTICLE, THE COLONOSCOPY IS A PIECE OF CAKE IF YOU FIND A GOOD DOCTOR. THE MOST UNPLEASANT PART OF IT IS THE LAXATIVE THE NIGHT BEFORE AND RELIEVING THE AIR AFTERWARDS THAT HAS BEEN PUMPED INTO YOUR INTESTINES FOR BETTER VIEWING. NOTHING YOU CAN'T LIVE WITH TO HAVE PIECE OF MIND. MY SISTER HAS JUST BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH COLON CANCER, SHE IS 50.
