I agree that salt intake increases B/P. Especially for those that suffer of hypertention. But I also believe that salt is very important for human body. Salt is okay in MODERATION. Even GOD mentions that food with out salt does not taste good. God gave us here on this earth all the things that is needful for our body. No matter what we eat and if we over do it yes it will be bad for us. Thank you for reading my comment and for your patience. Nada McMillan

I want to just say Thank You for this life saving information about salt. Just like the tobacco industry, the food industry continally look for ways to get us to eat more. As an Afrfican - American male approaching 60 years old, I see this as very important information for everyone.

Finding low salt in cookies or cake and bread is harder to do than some things on your list. Even lightly salted nuts have way less sodium usually than the yummie sweets. I am nine years on a very restructed salt diet (1000mg) connected with damage to my inner ear causing many balance problems. One adjusts to the thing, and the inconvenence, and then actually finds salt to be unpleasant. Have Indian food, watch the Italian and dodge the Japanese cuisine..in general.

Please someone, explain the ratio of salt to sodium. Above a statement says "Sodium comprises 40% of salt". I am on a low salt diet and I check the nutritional listings on all cans,pkgs.,etc--but most are too high in sodium. Is there a difference in salt and sodium for purposes of tabulating the salt?
