Great exercise suggestions. I'm thinking that many people who exercise and don't get results are not paying enough attention to diet and nutrition. Ironically, they often fear the diet part. When in reality, with a well structured exercise program, we can literally eat more volume and more often than before! Just not the garbage. That's the hard part: getting out of old eating habits, reading labels, and learning about nutrition. The best time to start is...NOW, beginning with your very next meal. Once I reached my physical goals, I've cut back on my strict diet/nutrition regimen to include splurging once or twice a week. Not for the whole day, just for a meal or two. And that includes ANYTHING, like ice cream or a large steak or ribs or something like that. I have completely eliminated sodas. No diet soda either. Refined sugar is bad, refined fake sugar is worse. Good luck!

All I can do is shake my head. Are we still using words like tone and reshape? I thought that went out in the 80's? And referencing Jilliam Michaels? Really? That woman is a disservice to real fitness professionals everywhere. What exactly are the requirements to be able to write these articles? Occasionally someone gets it right, but most fo the time I sure hope no one is actually getting paid for the 'information'.

Muscule confusion is the latest and greatest. If you workout 5 times a week, try 5 different routines. Day 1, light weight with lots of reps, day 2 run two miles, day 3 try Yoga, day 4 heavy weights but lessen the reps and day 5 try a Zumba or step aerobic class. I've been a fitness professional for 18 years and doing step everyday just ain't cutting it. My class and I love doing all the different stuff and we take it up a notch every now and then by using more weight or running further or doing sprints.

your an idiot! you body will not spot reduce fat! just cause you do crunches doesn't mean the fat will come off there! A caloric deficit with a balanced diet and doing stength training 2-3 times a week will burn fat, you dont even have to do cardio! why dont you get someone with an education to right these stupid things! eat less move more, end of story! someone please try to argue this with me!

I do extreme hiking, 9-15 miles in 95 degree 100% humidity. Not often, but often enough. The bottom end is that I sometimes collapse from the hiking. ALL of my male predecessors have had heart attacks before age 60 (hereditary). I will be 66 in September, and mine has not yet hit. Am I skinny? No, muscle weighs more than fat. Will I make it to 100, probably not, but my father was dead before he was my age. He smoked, he was somewhat sedentary, and he didn't have anyone tell him that he would have a heart attack before 60 either. To be blatant, ALL OF MY MALE PREDECESSORS had heart attacks before age 60. Some died. So, I'm just saying what has worked for me. A study I saw on TV said that extreme exercise can lessen heart attacks up to 70%. I'm guessing that's what happened to me.

Why are all these articles specifically for women and not men? I've not seen an article till this day based just for men.

1- run outside if weather permits.....how people spend endless hours on treadmills and bikes when it's sunny outside, is baffling to me.....running outside NEVER gets boring, and keeps you from tiring of the gym 2- perform more bodyweight exercises.....way harder to do, more entertaining too....stuff like pushups, pullups, hanging leg raise, dips, etc avoid machines if you can 3- DIET DIET DIET.......if your diet sucks, so will your results tinseltown rebellion
